In 1999 a book published during the 2000 presidential race exposed serious allegations about George W. Bush. It quickly became a number one best-seller. Although it had been fact checked by a major publishing house, it was pulled off the bookshelves. Subsequently, the author was labeled a criminal and the book was said to be nothing but lies. Soon thereafter, he was found dead in what was labeled an apparent suicide.
