Leon Black and the CIA. Part Three.
George H.W. Bush, CIA operative and Eli Black, CEO of United Fruit had much in common.
Eli Black, usually over obsessive about details, left no suicide note. Not at the office nor at either of his homes. Black’s office had two doors which were locked from the inside. His attaché case was found not far from where his body landed and it wasn’t in bad shape. Frankly, it would have been impossible for him to have broken the heavy glass window with something as flimsy as his briefcase as has been repeatedly written about throughout the years. The Pan Am building, now known as MetLife, is one of New York City’s skyscrapers standing at 59 stories tall. In fact, it is one of the top 100 tallest buildings in the United States. To ensure no one would ever accidentally fall out, the windows were given special consideration—and were made with extremely thick glass and sealed so that none of them opened.
One of the detectives who arrived on the scene decided it was a suicide while still in Eli’s office. It wasn’t even 9am when he uttered the words, “It will be classified a suicide”. But, was it?
